WHAT IS UNIVERSITY 20.35

University 20.35 is the first university in Russia providing opportunities for professional development by creating individual educational trajectories and tracking digital skill profiles.
It is aimed at training business leaders, participants of the National Technology Initiative and professionals entering new global markets.University 20.35 pioneers a new network-based learning principle, where educational trajectories for each  student are selected in a personalized manner. Different universities, online education platforms and other organizations are providing this customized content. Students are trained both offline and online through the digital platform of the University.
University 20.35 was established by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) to promote new projects. Partners: Skoltech, Innopolis, ITMO, SPbPU, MIPT, Novosibirsk State University, Tomsk State University, Far Eastern Federal University.

TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS OF UNIVERSITY 20.35

'Digital footprint’, which the platform collects during education processes, confirms the student’s skills. It also confirms that a trajectory module tutor is able to efficiently transfer skills to students.
Artificial intelligence technologies are being implemented in personal educational trajectories development: big data collection on students’ educational and professional background, analysis of students’ activities allows to suggest the best development path.
Alongside with educational processes the student’s ‘digital twin’ is created. It boosts the student’s efficiency in educational and professional experience.

RESEARCH

University 20.35 pioneers a new university model, where each student at any given moment makes a decision on his/her further educational steps based on recommendations that take into account the student's digital footprint, digital footprints of other students, and the educational content and activities available.

The recommendations include:
  • the choice of professional activity;
  • a list of the skills and knowledge that are necessary for this professional activity;
  • a selection of events, courses, educational methods, scholarly endeavors and professional activities that will ensure the student's development.

The creation of new hi-tech products under the National Technology Initiative (NTI) is the University's priority and the area in which students realize their potential.

Usually, such products are created by teams that possess a unique combination of skill sets both in different cross-industry technologies and in the field of business administration and operation in global markets.

Training for these types of activities is not conducted in universities and colleges. Moreover, it is impossible to provide such training in advance, before a professional need becomes apparent. The team should acquire new skills in the course of the technology's development and the business's transition to the next stages of development.

Implementation of such a model requires solving a whole spectrum of difficult problems, some of which are being actively solved in education (e.g. in learning analytics), and some of which are beyond the traditional scope of education.

That's why University 20.35, together with the leading universities and e-learning educational organizations, is actively conducting research activities.

Today the main lines of research include:

1. Research in the field of digital footprint and its applications:
  • Digital footprint collection and processing; student development analysis based on the digital footprint; construction of a skills & knowledge space, based on the digital footprint.
  • Digital footprint 'big data' processing, detection of success predictors and the optimal development trajectories.
  • Learning design that ensures digital footprint collection and validation of the achieved learning results through practical application.
  • Processing the biological feedback included in digital footprint. In particular using heart rate sensors and neurointerfaces.
  • Searching for optimal ways to represent the student's experience (digital skills profile) and his/her development dynamics.
2. Research in the field of constructing the student's optimal development trajectory:
  • Student 'similarity' detection (in terms of how one person's successful development experience is applicable for another person), based on a screening of personal traits and analysis of the student's digital footprint.
  • Research on how different ways of constructing a learning trajectory affect the student's involvement and results .(including different ways of integrating traditional university & college education with personal development trajectories, and the availability of recommendations based on AI).
  • Ethical and legislative aspects of the use of digital footprints and application of AI in a person's development.
3. Research in the field of effective team building:
  • Team role model development, and detection of predictors of successful project implementation by teams with different models and behavioural patterns.
  • Collection and processing of the digital footprint of a team’s professional activity, and detection of skills the team is lacking.
4. Research in the field of improvement of e-learning effectiveness:
  • Improvement of e-learning effectiveness.
  • Evidence-based pedagogics, data-driven implementation of new technologies and methods in educational organizations and digital platforms.

what is “island 10-21”

Island 10-21 is the first educational project in Russia aimed at intensive skills development for the digital economy and the National Technology Initiative. The project provides skills development in the field of digital and cross-cutting technologies combined with skills of personal and team performance management.

Possessing these skills, technologies, and methods of their application, the participants of the project Island 10-21 are going to be the leaders of technological changes and the most highly demanded specialists in the labor market for technology companies, state corporations, large industrial enterprises, regional and federal management project teams. They are taught to develop successful technological projects.

The educational program of the project Island 10-21 was held from 10 to 21, July 2018 on Russky Island (Vladivostok) and was based at the Far Eastern Federal University campus. More than 1000 people from all over the country (technological entrepreneurs, data analysts, engineers, university students, talented school students, regional and federal officials) took part in the project. World-class educators and the most renown practitioners became tutors and mentors of the participants.
